Three-Paddle Polarization Controller 27mm Loop Diameter Manual Mechanical Controller Can be Coustomized

Mechanical three-ring polarization control is made by using the principle of birefringence induced by optical fiber under the action of external force. Three of the rings are equivalent to three wave plates: λ/4 and λ/2. The light wave enters the λ/4 wave plate and is converted into linearly polarized light. The polarization direction is adjusted by the λ/2 wave plate, and finally passes through the λ/4 wave plate. λ/4 wave plate changes the polarization state of linearly polarized light into any polarization state. The delay effect caused by the birefringence effect is mainly determined by the cladding radius of the fiber, the fiber surrounding radius and the wavelength of the light wave. It has been verified that the controller can produce a full range of polarization state changes, and the adjusted polarization state can cover the entire Poincar sphere.

Assembly method of three-ring polarization controller

Take using 900UM optical fiber and setting the wavelength to 1550NM as an example:
Cancel rubber limiters A, B and C;
Tighten screws 1, 2, 3 and 4;
Loosen screws 5 and 6;

Rotate the controller wave plates A, B and C to the front, as shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3.

Assembling fiber optics:
Process a length of single-mode fiber that is at least 1 meter long (cannot be twisted);
Place one end of the optical fiber on the stopper A, press the stopper A and tighten the screw 6;
Place the optical fiber in the groove of the wave plate, and wrap the optical fiber twice in the groove of the wave plate. Be careful to ensure that the optical fiber cannot be twisted;
Put the rubber stopper back into place.

Place the fiber in the wave plate groove. For the 1/2 wave plate, wrap the fiber 4 times in the wave plate groove to ensure that the fiber is not twisted and put the rubber stopper back in place.

Place the fiber in the wave plate groove, and wrap the 1/4 wave plate fiber twice in the wave plate groove to ensure that the fiber is not twisted and put the rubber stopper back in place.

Place the optical fiber on the stopper B, press the stopper B, and tighten the screw 5:

Use polarization controller:
By rotating the 1/4 wave plate and 1/2 wave plate 180°, the rotational change of the polarization state can be obtained.
